Journal
A lot of information can come at you fast during a campaign, and our journals can assist you in finding clarity within the clutter! Journals are located in the Adventure Tools window of your Adventure Portal located in the upper right corner.
Click this button to find your Journal & Task Tracker!
Journals are created each time a Game Master launches an Adventure, allowing you to create separate entries that can be renamed. Rename your journal by clicking the edit pencil and click confirm once you’ve picked that perfect, witty title.
As your adventure advances, use the search feature to find older content. You’ll never find yourself back at a village wondering what the name of that one important NPC was ever again. The search feature can be located at the top of the journal tab.
Finally, share your knowledge (and your note taking!) with some or all of the adventurers. Click the share button and select which Adventurers you would like to give access to this knowledge by clicking the check mark next to their name.
For Game Masters:
Game Masters, you can log a ‘Super Event’ for when your party hits a major checkpoint in the adventure. These can act as reminders and are easier to locate in the future when you want to reminisce on your legendary moments. Access this feature by clicking the plus sign and entering in the event. Edit this ‘super event’ at any point by clicking the edit pencil.
Task Tracker
Keep your party on top of what they should be doing next, where they should be going, and which NPCs are left to be questioned. You can find the task tracker in Adventurers Tools alongside the journals.
Begin by creating a reminder for a task. This will be placed in the Open Tasks section - where all your ongoing missions will soon reside. Rename a task at any point by clicking the edit pencil to change it.
- If you succeed in your quest (or side-quest) and complete the task, congrats! Click the check mark to declare the task completed. The task will then find a new home in the Completed Tasks section.
- Failed to save the village from a murderous mega-python? Mark the task as unsuccessful by clicking the ‘x’. The task will then move to Unsuccessful Tasks.
Keep your Adventurers eyes on the prize by prioritizing your tasks. Click and drag the dots located on the left to reorder your agenda.
Pro-tip: we suggest pre-setting tasks for one-shots so everyone who comes into the portal has an idea of what they're going to be doing prior to the first get-together!
Screen Sharing
Set the tone of your Adventure with images, video, and audio sharing! Images can help your party visualize just how monstrous your creature creations really are, or share a map to show just how far your crew must travel.
To access screen share, click the button on the bottom left of the screen.
Push to Talk
Push to talk is automatically enabled on all Adventure Portals. In order to take advantage of this new tool, click on a video or voice window in Demiplane to bring it into focus.
Demiplane without Image in Focus (will not allow Push to Talk) (Left); Demiplane with Voice/Video in Focus for Push to Talk (Right)
Then, push the space bar to talk and, when you stop pressing it, you will be changed to mute. Unless you choose to manually unmute yourself, you will now be able to press space bar any time you want to share that crucial piece of information!
Whisper
For when the gang decides to split up and look for clues - Whisper feature allows you to selectively pluck one or more players from the main screen and enter a separate, top secret room.
- Did an Adventurer find a map to the hidden treasure before everyone else? Pull them into the secret room and discuss what their next move is.
- If a player's backstory needs to be revisited or plays a crucial part in future events, this knowledge can remain separate from the main party.
To access this tool, locate the player(s) you wish to whisper with and click the blue whispering icon to the left of their name.
Whisper Icon
You will be greeted by a loading screen that says ‘Entering Whisper.’ When you want to exit, click the same blue icon to return back to the main party. A similar loading screen will let you know that you are ‘Returning to the Party.’
Messaging
Utilize four separate chat sections to engage with your fellow adventurers in the game and outside of it.
Game Chat:
This is where you can communicate any information relevant to the game. Use it for things like:
- Stating what enchantment you’ll be using to make the troll fall asleep
- What weapon you will be using to decapitate the ogre
- Share with the team what spells you’ll be casting
Dice rolls will also automatically drop here and if you'd like more information on making dice rolls, check out our handy dice guide!
Party Chat:
Game Master and Players can see this section.
Use this to:
- Plan upcoming meetings
- Discuss alterations to the game
- Celebrate a job well done
- Debate if pineapple belongs on pizza
Player Chat:
This chat is only visible to players. Utilizing a strong boundary spell, the Game Master cannot enter this fortress built upon GIFs and devious plans of attack.
Use this chat to scheme and strategize without the prying eyes of your Game Master.
Game Master Chat:
This section is only visible to the Game Master. Here the GM can make rolls that they don’t want the players to see, players can send the GM secret rolls, and the GM can do a little scheming away from the full Party. Plus it’s a great place for Game Masters to safely leave notes for themselves about actions players take during the Adventure!
Both Party and Player chat can also be used outside of the session time. Take the initiative to plot victory against that leviathan or gigantic space squid on your break between sessions.
